Chinese Paradise Primary Grades 1 – 2

Introduction 1: On completion of this level, students will learn some Pinyin syllables which have 3 parts: tones, initials [beginning sound] and part of finals [ending sound]. We will focus on pronunciation and tones. Also they will learn some easy writing rules and will be able to speak 50 new words and simple sentences, like greetings, counting, body parts, etc.

 

Introduction 2: At this level, students begin to learn how to write Chinese characters, learn more new words and simple sentences. They will learn how to speak in Chinese about nationalities, time, dates, places, occupations and colors. They will begin to learn simple topics about China and Chinese culture.

 

Introduction 3: During these levels they will continue learning how to communicate in more topics, like travelling, shopping, hobbies, etc. At the completion of this level, students will be able to achieve the mastery of 50 Chinese characters and 300 new words, speak simple sentences, recite some Chinese nursery rhymes and poems, and sing some Chinese children’s songs in addition to learning some Chinese culture.

Chinese Made Easy for Kids Primary Grades 3 – 6

Foundation 1: In this level, students will start to learn Pinyin (phonetics) and tones. They will be able to speak simple sentences, such as greetings, introductions, numbers & dates, counting, colors, family members and daily routines. Additionally they will get to know Chinese characters and radicals (components of characters). Students learn with lively and free learning activities.

Foundation 2: On completion of this level, students will learn more Chinese characters and radicals; this level covers the same topics as Foundation 1, but in greater depth to communicate on a wider range of topics with additional topics such as countries, occupations, times and names. The student will begin to develop more listening and speaking skills.

Foundation 3: In this level, students’ speaking skills are reinforced. Having a stronger vocabulary they will be able to carry on conversations about many topics (i.e. Feelings) and recognize many characters. Development in vocabulary will widen in topics such as family members, animals, food, colors, daily articles, school facilities, modes of transport amongst many other topics. Also they will start to learn Chinese culture and customs.

Foundation 4: At the end of this level, students will have a strong foundation in phonetic symbols & tones, able to write from memory approximately 100 simple Chinese characters, develop basic vocabulary and sentence structure, able to recognize over 500 Chinese characters and also achieve listening and speaking skills. The next steps following this foundation level is “Chinese Made Easy” – Beginner to Pre-Intermediate series.

Chinese Made Easy
Grade 7 – 10
(Young Adults & Adults)

Beginner: In this Beginner level, students will establish a solid foundation for character learning, focusing on radicals (components of characters), character writing and character formation. At the same time, students will also get the development of communication skills in listening, speaking, reading and writing. Topics of learning will be greetings, family members, introductions, numbers & dates, countries, occupations, transportation and time.

 

Pre Intermediate 1 & 2: On completion of these levels, students will know how to communicate on a wider range of topics such as colors, weather, hobbies, school subjects, phone calls, food, health, shopping, household items and life at home to name a few, while building skills in sentence structure and speaking/listening. They will also complete learning approximately 600 new Chinese characters. Chinese culture and customs are also introduced.

 

Pre Intermediate 3 & 4 At the completion of these levels, students will have learned approximately a vocabulary of 1,700 new characters and several thousand phrases because even more new topics in addition to those already learned will be finely developed in this series. Listening & Speaking skills are reinforced in addition to learning dictionary skills, writing skills and more Chinese culture. The student will be fluent in the Chinese language at the completion of this Pre-Intermediate level.

Mandarin Business Conversation
(Young Adults & Adults)
Beginner to Fluency

Conversation 1: On completion of this level, students will be able to pronounce all Pinyin syllables and four Tones. They will have the daily conversation skills, like greetings, introductions of people or family, asking and answering, time and places; and also some topics with daily business routines, like booking rooms, changing money and setting up meetings.

 

Conversation 2: In this stage, students will know how to communicate on a wider range of topics, such as buying items, taking a business trip, making appointments, etc. At the end of this level students will finish all Pinyin syllables, four Tones, with a total of 18 communicative functions, about 600 new words and the fundamentals of Chinese grammar.

 

Conversation 3: At the end of this level students will gain a larger vocabulary, about 500 new words, will know numerous ways to express buying and selling, retail and wholesale, selecting goods/materials, bargaining, commercial services, marketing, talking about trends and marking tools.

 

Conversation 4: In this stage, students will learn topics, such as advertising, special features of management, public relations, salesmanship and promotion. At the end of this level, students will finish with a total 12 communicative functions, about 1,000 new words and will also gain knowledge about Chinese culture and customs.

Mandarin General Conversational 301

Beginner to Fluency

Conversation 1: On completion of this level, students will be able to pronounce all Pinyin syllables and four Tones. Basic communication in Chinese, listening and easy reading will also be achieved. Such topics as greetings, introductions of people or family, asking and answering about time and places, among other topics will be easily communicated in Chinese conversation.

 

Conversation 2: At this stage, students will review Pinyin syllables and four Tones and refine their pronunciation skills. A wider range of topics, such as buying items, taking public transportation, changing money making appointments and many other topics will be in their communication capabilities.

 

Conversation 3: At the end of this level, students will obtain a far larger vocabulary and will know numerous ways to express invitations, apologies, compliments, congratulations as well as other important topics at the same time learning the simple grammatical rules.

 

Conversation 4: Upon completion of the course, students will finish with a total of 30 communicative functions, approximately 800 new vocabulary words, 301 basic conversational sentences and the fundamentals of Chinese grammar. These will enable them to carry on simple conversations with the Chinese and also understand Chinese culture and customs.
